
Action for improvement?
Organization should be maintain and improve their health and safety performance by learning form experience through the use of audits and performance review. An audit is a critical examination of each stage of an organization’s management system and procedures in order to establish whether or no system exists’ and if so are adequate and are used. If the result of the audits identify that the control of hazard and risks is inadequate, the control measures should be modified accordingly and within a timescale. Arrangement should be established and maintained for the continual improvement of relevant elements of the OSH management system and the system as a whole possible.

To identify health and safety responsibilities and reporting lines within the company/department (Who). Although responsibility for health and safety lies with the highest level of management, general duties have to be delegated to line management. It is at this level that most activities will be carried out in order to comply within the safety policy. The safety responsibilities of managers at successive levels in the organization therefore must be clearly and logically delegated throughout. It is important however that responsibilities. There is an even greater need for clarity where the organization for health and safety cuts across the organization for other purposes, for example, where one manager may be responsible for the safety another’s workforce. There should also be clear terms of reference for those managers faced with a conflict between the demands of safety and the demands of production.
